Russians increase ruckus over Viktor Bout extradition
A man named Viktor Bout who the Drug Enforcement Agency accuses of being an arms dealer was extradited to the United States from Thailand Tuesday, a development that aroused anger from the Kremlin. The film "Lord of War" made in 2005, is located on Bout’s supposed activities with Nicholas Cage in the title role. Bout was arrested by undercover agents in 2008 and has been detained in Thailand since then. Bout is fated to appear before United States prosecutors eager to pin him with the terrorism label and Russia is irritated by that fact, a state of affairs that could, or could not be interpreted as an inconvenient pothole in the road to U.S./Russian reconciliation.
The reason why the Russians are worried about Viktor Bout
Tues, Viktor Bout made his way to the United States Washington spent 2 years working to get him extradited on terrorism charges. The Thai government resisted intense pressure from Moscow to set Bout free. Because he tried to sell $5 million in weapons to the Columbian rebels in 2008, he was arrested by the Royal Thai Police and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. Bout claims he did not do what he's being accused of. A weapons dealer is out of his realm. His business was supposedly concerning delivering goods. Inaccessible places across the world were where he focused on delivering. Insiders claim Bout knows about Russian military intelligence operations, and Moscow is afraid he will spill the beans to U.S. officials.
Monitoring the Merchant of Death
The warlords within the Middle East, South America and Africa are supposedly those who were getting weapons from Viktor Bout. The global weapons operation that Bout had employed regarding 300 individuals supposedly. He was a previous lieutenant in the Russian military. The Taliban was allegedly being supplied with weapons by Bout. In 2002 in Afghanistan this happened. He went underground, and DEA agents finally caught up to him in 2008, posing as arms buyers for Columbian rebels. Having missiles, drones, landmines and other weapons was what a Drug Enforcement Agency indictment is accusing Bout of.
U.S. and Russia both utilizing a man
The extradition was called illegal and politically motivated by Russian foreign ministry as Viktor Bout was sent to the U.S.. President Barack Obama and Dimitry Medvedev have been working on the relationship although many think the relationship between the United States of America and Russia might get worse because of this. Others look to the Russian spy scandal with Anna Chapman from last summer. They say Viktor Bout will not hurt if that didn't change anything. Problems will not come from that. They’re more likely to come if the U.S./Russia nuclear treaty doesn't go through with the Republicans having control of the United States of America congress.
