Chevy Volt reviews equivalent in compliment and blame
The first round of Chevy Volt reviews is starting to appear. The vehicle is not universally loved. Some people have some mixed sentiments. General Motors’ first foray into the modern electric car and hybrid vehicle field is the Chevy Volt. It has been hotly anticipated. Critics contend the car is too reliant on its gas motor to truly compete with other hybrids. GM disagrees. The automaker contends that is a true electric car, but it has a built in range extender.
Most experts talk poor about the Chevy Volt
The General Motors Chevrolet Volt is an electric and also hybrid vehicle that many have waited for patiently. Everybody has been waiting patiently. There was a concern that the automobile would not be very good. The Volt isn’t a true hybrid or electric auto according to critics. This is what Automotive News reports. Gas is used by the auto when accelerating. This is why experts say it isn’t a true electric or hybrid car. General Motors has responded by saying that unlike the Toyota Prius and also other hybrids, it is really an electric automobile with the range extended by a traditional gasoline motor.
Driving reviews are generally pretty good
There have not been very poor reviews of the actual driving experience with the Chevy Volt. In USA Today there was a drive test of the Chevy Volt that was great. The acceleration is not terrifically hampered. GM is claiming 40 miles could be driven with a full charge, which seems true thus far. There is one big difference from most electric autos. The gas motor charges the battery when it is in use. The Volt won’t need to be charged too often. The Nissan Leaf does not have this luxury.
Saving with the vehicle could be costly
Though the Chevy Volt isn’t quite the bank account buster that a Tesla Roadster is, the car is a bit pricey. You are able to get the car for about $40,000. If you take the onetime tax credit then it goes down to $34,000 though. That is still $10,000 more than the Prius or other hybrids such as the Honda Insight.
