Earth Day 2010 Is Here
It is close to that time of year to remember the Earth for a day – yes, it is Earth Day on April 22. Earth Day 2010, and any Earth Day really, is a good time to be mindful of being better custodians of the environment. Our children have to inherit exactly what we leave, so don’t make your legacy soda cans. There are also some great Earth Day Activities for Kids, if you want to consist of the little ones. Plenty of things you are able to do are incredibly cost-effective, so doing something for Earth Day won’t make need debt relief.
First Earth Day was April 22, 1970
The very first Earth Day was a teach-in. In fall 1969, Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin began advocating the idea at speaking appearances. He put the idea forward for a nationwide grassroots effort for better environmental practices, and thanks to excellent media coverage, it picked up an incredible amount of steam. Colleges and universities held teach ins, and rallies and demonstrations all took place on April 22, 1970. 20 million individuals partook, and Earth Day and Earth week were born. The idea caught on, and April 22 is observed as Earth Day worldwide.
