Mike Bacsik, Radio Host, Was Fired For A Racist Tweet
KENS 5 San Antonio reports that former Major League pitcher and Dallas sports talk-show host and producer Mike Bacsik, Jr., was fired by KTCK (The Ticket 1310) for some racist comments he made on his personal Twitter account . Bacsik (BASS-ik, pronounced like the fish) was suspended by the station the day before and apologies were released by Bacsik and also the station, but KTCK decided to finalize the separation. As outlined by the Dallas Morning News, Mike Bacsik made the following tweet at San Antonio Spurs fans after a recent NBA Playoffs victory by the Dallas Mavericks over the Spurs: “Congrats to all the dirty Mexicans in San Antonio.” Now he may need paydayloans.
Mike Bacsik (aka ‘Chew-Bacsik’) gets to be another Twitter casualty.
Athletes and other entertainers just like Mike Bacsik seem to have a hard time determining either what is socially appropriate to broadcast across the web or how Twitter works. If it isn’t a person posting nude pictures or betraying signs of emotional disorder, it’s another public figure like Mike Bacsik – dubbed “Chew-Bacsik” by KTCK staff, because of a mild speech impediment – spouting off racist smack. Evidently people can't determine the internet doesn't just live in our lives and is very public, including Twitter. That’s why organizations such as Major League Baseball is taking it upon themselves to play “Big Brother” when it comes to how their employees use Twitter . Just a small amount of instruction saves many embarrassment which makes it seem like the MLB's policy isn't a bad thing.
Mark Bacsik doesn't have a problem with people apparently
On Aug. 7, 2007, Mike Bacsik surrendered Barry Bonds’ 756th home run, which broke the record that was 33 years old for career home runs that was held by Hall of Famer Henry “Hammerin’ Hank” Aaron. Bacsik not only tipped his cap to Bonds as a show of respect, but he went to the San Francisco Giants’ clubhouse following the game to shake hands with Barry also. It is interesting to note is that Mike Bacsik Sr. (Bacsik’s father) also pitched within the Major Leagues, and on August 23, 1976, he faced Hank Aaron at the plate. At that very same time, Aaron has 755 home runs in his career. So potentially, both Mike Bacsik Jr. and Sr. could have surrendered number 756. It may have even been worth instant cash loans on memorabilia circuit to both of them.
