Anna Fermanova may be one more Anna Chapman

Anna Chapman is old news, America; there’s a new Russian spy around, with Latvian origins. Anna Fermanova, a 24-year-old native of Latvia, has mesmerized Facebook fans and allegedly stolen military-grade equipment. The New York Daily News reports how the blonde import has presumably smuggled Raptor 4X Night Vision Weapons Sights to Moscow, where she went to visit her spouse, as outlined by court documents. Fermanova was arrested at her parents’ suburban Dallas home July 15, roughly a month after her most recent trip to Moscow to visit her husband. Anna Fermanova’s case ‘looks a lot worse than it really is,’ claims legal representative

”She’s a nice Jewish girl who lives with her sweet Latvian mother and father. There is no terrorism link. There’s no espionage,” claims Scott Palmer, Anna Fermanova’s lawyer. But a confidential informant is said to have tipped off federal immigration agents as to Fermanova’s illicit activities. Once government bodies searched Fermanova’s possessions before her last trip to Moscow, they found a $ 7,000 Raptor scope and two others worth $ 4,000 each.

The Daily News writes that Fermanova explained how the scopes were merely for her husband’s hunting ventures. After being told that bringing such gear out of the country was illegal without the proper license, Fermanova told authorities that she’d signed some paperwork, but couldn’t tell them what it had been for. Apparently it did not constitute the license necessary for exportation.

She admits to blacking out the serial numbers

Fermanova intentionally blacked out the serial numbers on the devices, according to authorities. Investigating agents didn’t believe Fermanova was telling the whole truth she said that she did that simply for making the serial numbers “less noticeable”. The scopes were repossessed and Anna Fermanova was allowed to fly to Moscow, but her passport was seized and she was arrested upon her return to the United States. Fermanova was subjected to the charge of “knowingly and intentionally attempting to export defense articles on the United States Munitions list”. Fermanova will serve 10 years for the offense if convicted, reports the Daily News. Fermanova is currently under house arrest after posting $ 50,000 bail.

She once forged a check

Fermanova had a previous scrape with the law than involved a $ 76 forged check in 2003. The one-time cosmetology student and English language instructor was fined for the offense and served 3 years of probation. During her time in beauty school, Fermanova took numerous provocative photographs of herself that made her Facebook page a popular attraction. This attention is not dissimilar to the ogling Anna Chapman received over her own sexy photographs.
